Two Credit Unions Offer Members Easy Access to Dwolla
(Des Moines, Iowa – November 8, 2011) – Two credit unions have rolled out Dwolla – the online, social, mobile and location-based payments tool distributed by The Members Group (TMG). UNI Credit Union (Cedar Falls, Iowa) and WV United Federal Credit Union (Charleston, W.Va.) have each signed on for Dwolla’s integration product, FiSync, which offers members an expedited Dwolla sign-up process.
“With Dwolla, we are able to provide our members with a fast, easy and secure way to send and receive money from their bank accounts,” said Robert Hill, UNI Credit Union marketing director. “As a partner in their financial well-being, our members expect us to seek out and integrate innovative products and services, like Dwolla, to be relevant in the alternative payment space.”
After signing up for a Dwolla account – a process that takes less than a minute – members of UNI Credit Union and WV United Federal Credit Union will be able to make payments to anyone with a mobile phone number or email address, as well as their Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter connections.
“We view Dwolla as a way to quickly and affordably enter the mobile payments market,” said Linda Bodie, CEO of WV United Federal Credit Union.
In addition, members will be able to download the Dwolla mobile application, Dwolla Spots, which allows users to make payments via their smartphone. The app displays a map of Dwolla-accepting merchants based on their smartphone’s current location.
Both credit unions were introduced to the Dwolla platform by TMG. “It’s exciting to see so many community financial institutions embrace the value of an alternative payments solution like Dwolla,” said Brian Day, TMG’s Dwolla product leader. “Dwolla enables credit union and community banks to quickly and easily enter the online, mobile, social and location-based payments market.”
